The days are beginning to get longer, but to be sure, winter will be with us a little while longer. We have been keeping our spirits and immune systems strong with lots of (spicy!) fresh ginger and our favorite of winter’s citrus—red grapefruit. Blending with dark leafy greens, pressed almond milk (and all of the fiber, protein and essential fatty acids it packs) means slower digestion of the natural fruit sugars, and ultimately, more balance and satiety for your start to the day.
Grapefruit, ginger + kale smoothie
1 cup curly kale (chopped)
1/2 red grapefruit (peeled, seeds removed)
3/4 cup almond milk (Pure or Sea Salt + Honey)
3/4 cup frozen mango
1 Tablespoon coconut manna
1 teaspoon fresh ginger (grated)
Measure all ingredients into blender pitcher. Be sure to remove all seeds from grapefruit (they are very bitter). Blend until smooth. If needed, add another splash of almond milk to reach desired consistency. Serves one.
